House Viator

VIATOR means “wayfarer” or “traveler” in Latin. The term is associated with the concept of someone who is on a journey or traveling from one place to another. This term is often used to describe individuals who are engaged in the act of traveling, exploring, or wandering.

Fearlessness when facing the unknown.

The motto Fortis Cor, means “Brave Heart.” Members of House Viator are also known as “Explorers.”

Members of House Viator are most at home in the world of solid objects that can be made and manipulated, and of real-life events that can be experienced in the here and now. They have exceptionally keen senses and love working with their hands, seeming right at home with tools, instruments, and vehicles of all kinds. Their actions are usually aimed at getting them where they want to go as quickly as possible.

They believe that variety is the spice of life, and that doing things that aren’t fun or exciting is a waste of time. Residents of House Viator are impulsive, adaptable, competitive, and believe the next throw of the dice will be the lucky one. They can also be generous to a fault, always ready to share with their friends from the bounty of life. Above all, Explorers need to be free to do what they wish, when they wish. They resist being tied or bound or confined or obligated; they would rather not wait, or save, or store, or live for tomorrow. In the Explorer view, today must be enjoyed, for tomorrow never comes.

The House Viator crest features a compass, emphasizing their willingness to try new things and experience what life has to offer as well as a bowerbird named Vinum. Bowerbirds are a species of bird with a unique courtship behavior in which males build a structure and decorate it with sticks and brightly colored objects to attract a mate.

House Viator Mascot: Vinum the Charismatic

VINUM THE CHARISMATIC was a bowerbird who lived in an area of untamed rainforest. A risk-taker, he enjoyed collecting the most brilliant objects he could find in the jungle, regardless – and sometimes because of – the peril involved. Through his daily adventures, he gathered treasures, from gleaming emerald leaves to dazzling, dangling spiders. It was during mating season, however, that Vinum’s daring truly shone. Vinum was willing to travel further than other males of his species to find the rarest, most beautiful artifacts. Vinum’s bower was a masterpiece, adorned with an array of vibrant flowers, feathers, and bits of brightly colored stone and even glass.

Vinum the Charismatic

One day, as he was meticulously arranging his many treasures, he noticed another bowerbird, a beautiful female named Lira with iridescent green feathers. She soared above the jungle canopy, seemingly without regard for potential predators. Vinum was captivated by her finesse and bravery. He caught her attention with a series of high-pitched trills and unveiled his prepared nest, showcasing both skill and creativity.

Lira was enchanted by Vinum’s artistic display, never having seen many of the rare artifacts he proudly displayed. She couldn’t resist the allure of his colorful bower and his charismatic performance. She decided to make her nest in the bower, and Vinum’s heart swelled with pride and joy. His commitment to creativity and his ability to seize the moment had won him the love he sought.

Vinum demonstrates the importance of passion, creativity, and the potential rewards of being willing to take a risk where others will not.
