House Praetor

PRAETOR refers to a high-ranking official or magistrate in ancient Rome. Praetors were responsible for administering justice, presiding over legal matters, and, in some cases, leading military campaigns.

Stability through tradition, strength through duty.

The motto, Fides Constans, means “Constant Faith,” a phrase which accurately represents the unwavering loyalty for which its residents are known.

Residents of House Praetor are the cornerstone of society, for they are given to serving and preserving our most important social institutions. Praetorians have natural talent in managing goods and services – from supervision to maintenance and supply – and they use all their skills to keep things running smoothly in their families, communities, schools, churches, hospitals, and businesses.

Guardians have a strong sense of duty and responsibility. They are committed to fulfilling their obligations, whether in personal relationships, work, or community roles. Guardians are practical thinkers who focus on what works in the real world. They are down-to-earth, relying on common sense and proven methods to navigate daily challenges.

They also believe in law and order, and sometimes worry that respect for authority, even a fundamental sense of right and wrong, is being lost.

The House Praetor crest features a clock representing the importance of timeliness and reliability – and a set of scales – representing their passion for social justice. The mascot of House Praetor is Coralina, a Hawksbill sea turtle. Sea turtles are steadfast creatures, returning to the same nesting beaches every year. As an endangered species, they represent Praetorian’s instinct to conserve what is important.

House Praetor Mascot: Coralina the Steadfast

CORALINA THE STEADFAST, a Hawksbill sea turtle, felt a deep attachment to her nesting grounds, a pristine beach bathed in golden sunlight. Every nesting season, with unwavering dedication, she would return to this shore. Coralina’s sense of responsibility to her hatchlings and the ocean were paramount.

Coralina the Steadfast

Year after year, Coralina meticulously selected her nesting site, ensuring it was the safest and most suitable, demonstrating a Guardian’s instinct to protect her family. When the time came, she would laboriously dig her nest and lay her eggs, burying them with care. On the nights when her hatchlings emerged from their sandy cradle, Coralina would guide them to the sea with great caution, warding off potential threats. This act of guarding her young mirrored a Guardian’s innate commitment to nurturing and protecting their own.

Coralina’s connection to the island extended beyond her family. She had witnessed the changing tides, the eroding beaches, and the impact of human activity on her beloved home. Her sense of responsibility expanded to the island’s well-being. Just as Guardians feel a duty to protect their communities, she felt a duty to protect the island and its fragile ecosystem.

Coralina’s legacy as the island’s Guardian was carried forward by the islanders who took up the mantle of preserving the beach, the sea, and the creatures that inhabited it. Her spirit lived on in the hearts of those who had been touched by her enduring sense of duty, reminding them of the importance of protecting the natural world.
