The motto Harmonia Aeterna, means “Eternal Harmony.” Members of House Concordia are also known as “Diplomats.”
Residents of House Concordia are passionately concerned with personal growth and development. Concordians strive to discover who they are and how they can become their best possible selves – this quest for self-knowledge and self-improvement drives their imagination. And they want to help others make the journey. Diplomats are naturally drawn to working with people, and whether in education or counseling, in social services or personnel work, in journalism or the ministry, they are gifted at helping others find their way in life, often inspiring them to grow as individuals and to fulfill their potentials.
The House Concordia crest features Shanti, a Sri Lankan elephant. Like other species of elephant, Sri Lankan elephants organize themselves into complex social structures of females and calves called “clans,” with calves being cared for by all related females. They are also known to communicate through touch, using their long, prehensile trunks. Unlike most other elephant species, the Sri Lankan only rarely have tusks (found in 5-10% of males).
The House Concordia crest includes two arcs of yellow roses, a flower that symbolizes friendship and joy, and a cello, a musical instrument known for its ability to produce expressive and emotive tones. It also features Shanti, the Sri Lankan elephant who serves as its mascot.

House Concordia Mascot: Shanti the Tranquil
SHANTI THE TRANQUIL was a Sri Lankan elephant matriarch who led her herd with grace and a sense of duty to her fellow elephants and the natural world. She had an uncanny ability to sense the needs of her herd members, offering comfort to the troubled, guidance to the lost, and love to all. Under her leadership, the herd thrived and lived in harmony with their jungle home.
Shanti the Tranquil
One hot, dry season, the jungle began to wither and water sources became scarce. The other animals in the jungle looked to Shanti for guidance, recognizing her as a wise and caring leader. With the sun beating down and the land drying up, Shanti led her herd on a journey deep into the jungle. They followed the faint scent of water and the knowledge passed down through generations. Shanti’s belief in the power of unity and her commitment to the well-being of her fellow creatures spurred her onward.
After days of travel, they arrived at a hidden oasis deep within the jungle. The oasis was fed by a secret underground spring that had not run dry. Shanti’s guidance and determination had led her herd to safety, and they shared this life-saving discovery with the other animals.
Shanti continued to lead her herd with grace and wisdom. Her legacy of kindness and unity lived on, not only among her fellow elephants but also in the hearts of all the jungle’s inhabitants. In Shanti, House Concordia found its truest representation as guardians of peace and harmony in a world that sorely needs it.
